Jigokudani (Japanese: 地獄谷じごくだに, Jigokudani) is an active volcanic crater in Noboribetsu City, Hokkaido, Japan. It is believed that it was formed by numerous sulfur gathering inside and multiple volcanic eruptions. The smell of sulfur is thick, and steam still comes out from the numerous craters around it. It is said that it was named Jigokudani because it is said that it would be like this when you go to hell. Every year, 3,000 liters of hot spring water comes out. Every night, a demon festival is held. It is a hot spring valley like Owakudani in Mt. Hakone.
