The Oldest Nasi Kandar in the World

Hameediyah in Campbell Street has been in existence for more than 120 years and currently operates by the 9th generation. Started back in the 1800s, Hameediyah was operated along the street with the "kandar," and they featured rice with Ayam Ros and Daging Rendang. Today, these two iconic dishes are on the menu and best seller items. I find their ayam ros to be OK, but their daging rendang is out of this world. Today, they are also famous for their lamb shank and their fresh seafood as well as their rabbit curry. They do offer 4 types of rice, white rice, nasi dalcha, nasi briyani, and nasi tomato. Their mee goreng and pasembur is on point, but I think their nasi kandar and their murtabak are my favorites. Their cheese naan is OK, but their tandoori chicken is so flavorful and tender.

Weekends are usually with long queues, and now they have opened 2 more shops just like 3 doors away from their original shop with more comfortable air-conditioned seatings. Parking on the street can be challenging but there are two parking lots, one right in front of the new shops and one behind the shop.
