Numazu | Locals Skip Kamakura for This Charming Fishing Town! 🎣🏖️

#summervacay
I've been in Japan for three months now, and it's been an incredibly fulfilling journey, visiting so many places! For a recent three-day holiday, I snuck off to Numazu.

Numazu is this adorable fishing port town that hardly any foreign tourists consider a destination. Even on a public holiday, while there were a good number of Japanese visitors, it was nowhere near a bustling tourist city – I bet it's even quieter on weekdays! Just a heads-up, shops tend to close pretty early here. ⏰

There aren't a ton of "attractions," but we spent a wonderfully relaxed day just taking our time. We wandered through the shopping streets and tried the local specialty: deep-sea soft serve ice cream! 🍦 The ramune (soda pop) flavored one was super refreshing and not too sweet. We practically had the entire beach to ourselves for a breezy stroll! Plus, the beaches here are covered in smooth, round pebbles, so you won't get sand all over your shoes – win-win! 🙌
