📍Why Lulang?
"In Tibet, if you miss Lulang, it's like missing the gentlest part of southeastern Tibet!"
Here the altitude is only 3,200 meters, with a low risk of altitude sickness. Snow-capped mountains, forests, pastures, and Tibetan villages intertwine, resembling the Swiss Alps but wilder and purer than Switzerland!
🚗 Transportation Guide
Self-drive: 2 hours from Nyingchi, the most beautiful section of National Highway 318, with snow mountains and Niyang River scenery along the way
Shuttle bus: Nyingchi Bus Station → Lulang Town, 2 trips daily (8 AM / 2 PM)
Car rental: Shared car for 4 people, about 150 RMB per person, stop and shoot anytime (recommended to visit Sejila Pass for views of Mount Namjagbarwa)
🏡 Accommodation Recommendations
✔️ [Zhaxigang Village Tibetan Homestay] Snow mountains visible from the window, gather around the stove at night drinking butter tea, about 100+ RMB per night per person
✔️ [High-end option] Poly Yatu Hotel, Tibetan-style villas + heated swimming pool, off-season 600+ RMB with excellent value
🍲 Must-try Food
🔥 Lulang Stone Pot Chicken: Tibetan fragrant chicken stewed with medicinal herbs, fresh soup and tender meat! Recommended "Aunt He’s Stone Pot City"
🍵 Butter Tea + Highland Barley Cake: Freshly made butter tea at Tibetan homes, paired with sweet tea and yak jerky, absolutely delicious
📸 Photo Spots
1️⃣ Lulang Forest Sea: Like a fairyland when shrouded in morning mist, wearing white/red long dresses makes for stunning photos
2️⃣ Zhaxigang Village: Tibetan wooden houses + prayer flags + herds of cattle and sheep, a top choice for cultural shots
3️⃣ Alpine Pasture: Horse riding experience (50 RMB/hour), with snow mountains and wildflowers as the backdrop
💡 Tips to Avoid Pitfalls
⚠️ Best from May to October, heavy snow may block roads in winter
⚠️ Stone pot chicken can be group purchased, don’t get ripped off by high prices on the roadside
⚠️ Sunscreen! Sunglasses + hat are essential, UV rays are very strong
