Okayama | Michelin 3-Star Garden Korakuen

The garden's name is derived from Fan Zhongyan's saying, "Worry before the world worries; enjoy after the world enjoys."
🌲
One of Japan's three great gardens, along with Kenrokuen in Kanazawa and Kairakuen in Mito.
Built around 1700, it is a representative feudal lord's garden in Japan and a symbol of the daimyo samurai's power.
🌲
The highest point in the garden is "Yushinzan," from which you can see the entire garden centered around Sawa Pond. It combines the strengths of gardens from various eras and regions, blending styles such as the island in the pond from the Heian period, the mix of trees and stones from the Muromachi period, and the cycad gardens from the Azuchi-Momoyama period. It also recreates famous scenic spots like the Eight Views of Omi from Shiga and the Kiso Road from Nagano.
🌲
Experience the ever-changing scenery. Unlike other gardens that use moss for decoration, this garden features a large lawn, which is rare in Japanese gardens, providing a very comfortable view.
You can also enjoy the "borrowed scenery" with Okayama Castle and the surrounding mountains as the backdrop.
🏯
🎫
Admission is 500 yen for adults, and the garden closes at 5 PM.
