A Magical Experience at Six Senses Laamu

This review is significant to me. Nearly three decades after living in the Maldives, where I thought the coral reefs were beyond repair, I discovered that I was mistaken. Six Senses Laamu boasts an incredible house reef brimming with marine life, vibrant coral, and breathtaking beauty just four meters from the jetty. They've also restored the sea grass between the water villas, attracting turtles, rays, and sharks. It's truly amazing. The food is excellent, and the entire staff makes the operation on this remote island, where everything is imported, look effortless. The Teppanyaki dining experience is a must-visit for an exciting evening. While these are all noteworthy aspects, what truly sets Laamu apart is the way the team engages with guests and each other. They function like a family, and you can sense it everywhere. Guests can be seen chatting with staff on their way to breakfast, becoming part of the island's community, which is just a wonderful experience.Though I'm typically fond of beach villas, I adored the water villas here. The pillow menu, seaside showers, and relaxing afternoons on the deck were all fantastic. Our GEM Abdulla was outstanding, ensuring no request was too much. Tan from the sales team was a burst of joy, full of energy and passion for the island. I joined her for a sunrise swim with Ihaka, the island's Culinary Director, which perfectly illustrates the "Laamu family" experience.Freddie, the resort manager, runs an efficient and welcoming operation with charm and humor—it's evident the staff respects him. Special mention goes to Abby, who took us snorkeling and to a marvelous deserted island lunch. It's challenging to choose a favorite island in the Maldives, but this one is certainly among the top, with its epic house reef for any underwater enthusiast. I LOVED IT!!!!! Thank you to the incredible team. x
