Okinawa Charcoal Grill Restaurant Umu-san no Niwa is located in Onna Village, near the resort hotels along the Onna Sunset Highway. This is actually a restaurant that serves Okinawa soba, produced by the Tsurutontan group, which is famous for its delicious udon noodles. During the day, soba is the main dish, and at night, it becomes an Okinawan izakaya where you can enjoy live sanshin music. We visited for lunch to try the Okinawa soba. The restaurant has a stylish interior and an open terrace. It's a great location with a view of the sea. I ordered the "Thick-cut sanmai pork charcoal-grilled soba noodles." The soba noodles, which were brought to me in a large bowl unique to Tsurutontan, were a sight to behold. The charcoal-grilled sanmai pork gave off a savory aroma. The soft, tender sanmai pork and chewy noodles were perfectly balanced with the soup and were absolutely delicious. A large serving of soba is free. We ordered a large portion and finished it all in one go!
The large portion is recommended.
What's great about this menu is that it's also available during the evening izakaya hours.
It might be a good idea to have it as a final soba dish with Okinawan cuisine.
