📍Osaka, Japan
⏰2016.09
When my younger sibling was living in Kyoto and my family was scattered across Korea, China, and Japan,
I went to Japan with my mom.
This was my fourth trip to Osaka.
The Shinsaibashi-Dotonbori area is the best place to hang out in Osaka.
I first visited this area in 2002, when I was in middle school.
The street hasn't changed much since that time, when I visited with friends. Still, "cheesy," "excessive," and "delicious" are adjectives that seem to define Shinsaibashi Dotonbori. 😆
My favorite food in Japan is kushikatsu! 💕
A Korean-American friend of mine who lives in Osaka once told me that the "Shinsaegae" neighborhood in Osaka is famous for its kushikatsu, and he fell in love with it. So we met again this time and had kushikatsu! 😋
Even without going all the way to the Shinsaegae area, you can easily find kushikatsu shops on Shinsaibashi Street!
Choose a generous selection of meats and vegetables, and they'll bread it all in crispy batter and fry it.
Dip it in the provided soy sauce and eat it with raw cabbage for a crunchy, perfect meal!!
There are a few kushikatsu places in Shanghai, but I really miss the bustling streets of Osaka and the kushikatsu I used to enjoy there. 🥺
