📍Address: Namba Yasaka Shrine
I quickly checked in at the Lion's Head, took two photos and ran away
Remember that I only took photos of it but didn't visit it, so I missed its limited edition in January.
After I came back, I checked the information again and found that people who can visit and pray can
The following is an introduction to Namba Yasaka Shrine:
Historical Origin: Namba Yasaka Shrine is located in Osaka, Japan. The earliest record can be traced back to the Emperor Nintoku era, around 1069, nearly a thousand years ago. There are also claims that its history can be traced back to around the 3rd century AD. According to legend, an epidemic broke out in Osaka around the 5th century AD, and people began to worship Gion Gyuto Tenno. Since then, this place has become a shrine guarding the Namba area and is called "Namba Shimo-nomiya" by the locals. After the Meiji Restoration, the temple was abandoned due to the separation of Shinto and Buddhism, but the main hall and other buildings were rebuilt in 1974.
🗓️Itinerary:
Lion Hall: It is the landmark building of Namba Yasaka Shrine, 12 meters high and wide.
It is 11 meters high and 10 meters deep, with a unique shape, like a giant lion with its mouth wide open. Inside the lion's mouth is a stage for performances such as Kagura, lion dance, and folk dance. Its eyes are lights and its nose is a trumpet.
Main Hall: Located next to the Lion Hall, it has an exquisite appearance after being renovated in 1974. There are carvings of the four great mythical beasts at the entrance. The main hall, stone lanterns, torii and other buildings all reflect the charm of traditional Japanese culture.
🏖️Environment/Facilities: Namba Yasaka Shrine hosts various festivals and events throughout the year. During the New Year period, grand festivals are held, such as the Tsunahiki Festival and the Yomiuri Festival, and many local residents and tourists come here to worship and pray for good luck in the new year.
A summer festival is held every July, which is very lively.
💞Recommendation reason: Namba Yasaka Shrine is not only an important religious place in Osaka, but also a witness to Osaka's history and culture. It carries the faith and hope of the local people and attracts many tourists to experience Japan's traditional culture and religious customs.
