Isshin-ji Temple, located in Tennoji Ward, Osaka City, is a historic Jodo sect temple founded in 1185. The temple is most famous for its Bone Buddha statues, which are Amida Nyorai figures made from the ashes of devotees. One statue is made every ten years, and there are currently twelve in total.
Additionally, the temple’s Nio Gate was designed by the renowned architect Takaguchi Yasuyuki, featuring a unique modern steel structure. Isshin-ji Temple attracts many visitors with its distinctive historical background and architectural style. If you have the chance to visit Osaka, it’s definitely worth a visit—don’t miss it.
