Nakazakicho Osaka — The Best Neighborhood for CityWalk, Worth Visiting Again and Again!

#OsakaShoppingGuide
If I don’t have a shopping plan, I actually don’t like going to Osaka.
The popular shopping districts are crowded and noisy, which easily makes someone like me anxious.
But 🍃Nakazakicho🍃, just a ten-minute walk from "Umeda,"
is a place I’m always willing to spend half a day exploring.
It’s artistic and romantic, unlike typical Osaka,
and it’s definitely the best area in Osaka for CityWalk, bar none!
-
This neighborhood, rich in coffee, desserts, vintage shops, and art exhibitions,
preserves many buildings and styles from the Showa era.
It’s quiet, retro, and full of artistic vibes.
Most small shops have unique and exquisite storefronts.
Just wandering around without a specific goal feels interesting,
and every corner holds a surprise~
-
If you don’t explore in detail, two hours is enough,
but if you want to slowly check out each small shop,
you can easily spend most of the day here.
For example, there’s a coffee shop I adore,
with a low-key sign and a no-photography policy.
Just this one shop alone can keep me seated all afternoon...
Everyone can find their favorite spot here~
-
Here are some of my ❤️ favorite shops:
-
🍵 Utena Kissaten
Opposite the Hakuryu Daijin mini shrine ⛩️, the sign is very inconspicuous.
A coffee shop run by a particularly beautiful, elegant, and graceful elderly couple.
The space is scattered with calm and beautiful old furniture and antiques.
Ah~~~ I love it so much!!! I always stop by for a visit~
-
🍙 Musubidou
A specialty shop for rice balls and miso soup.
Even before opening, many locals line up.
Lunch costs about 60 per person, with miso soup full of ingredients and delicious.
A simple and tasty meal, I’ll definitely go again next time.
-
☕️ OSA COFFEE
An airport-themed coffee shop, very popular for its ice cream 🍮.
-
🍐 Neel Coffee
A coffee shop from Tokyo, always with a line.
Compared to the coffee, I think the brunch is even better.
-
🥙 Kinmokusei Cafe
Actually just a crepe specialty shop.
They wrote “Have a nice day❤️” on the wet wipes they gave me,
which was very heartwarming 🥰 Highly recommended.
-
🍃 Warm reminder:
Many shops are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Some unique shops have a “no photography” policy, so remember to respect local customs.
There are also many shops on the 2nd and 3rd floors in various corners, so take your time exploring if you like.
-
💁🏻‍♀️ Actually, my advice is not to rush to specific shops.
City Walk is about not having too many goals.
Slow down, and just enjoy wherever you end up going~
-
Although it’s a line from the movie "Living in Kyoto,"
it fits #Nakazakicho perfectly:
“The things you like must be explored and found by yourself.
Put down your phone, follow the scents, isn’t that better?
Finding what you like is your own freedom.”
