The Umeda Sky Building, located in Kita Ward, Osaka, is a landmark known for its Floating Garden Observatory, offering panoramic views of Osaka city. Here are the main transportation options to help you get there easily!
From the City Center
It’s about a 10-15 minute walk from Osaka Station (JR) or Umeda Station (Osaka Metro), via underground passages or street level. Take the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line to Umeda Station, exit from the north exit, and walk through the underground passage between the Grand Front Osaka North and South buildings. The fare is about 230-280 yen. From JR Osaka Loop Line to Osaka Station, exit from the Central North Exit and walk about 11 minutes.
From Kansai Airport
Take the JR Kansai Airport Rapid Service to Osaka Station, about 70 minutes, costing around 1,190 yen. Alternatively, take the Haruka Express to Tennoji Station, then transfer to the JR Yamatoji Line to Osaka Station, about 50 minutes. You can also take the Limousine Bus directly to Osaka Station, about 1 hour, costing around 1,550 yen.
From Kyoto and Kobe
From Kyoto, take the JR Special Rapid Service to Osaka Station, about 30 minutes, costing around 570 yen. From Kobe, take the JR Special Rapid Service, about 30 minutes, costing around 410 yen. After arriving at Osaka Station, walk to the building.
Practical Tips
It’s recommended to use Google Maps for real-time route information. The Osaka Amazing Pass allows unlimited subway rides and free entry to the Floating Garden Observatory (9:30 AM - 10:30 PM, ticket price 1,500 yen, half price for ages 4-12), which is very cost-effective. The observatory is located on the 39th-40th floors, accessible by transparent elevators and sky escalators, offering a 360-degree view of Osaka’s skyline. The night view is especially romantic!
