Transportation Guide
Having been to Osaka more than ten times,
if you ask me where the most photogenic observatory in all of Osaka is,
I would tell you without hesitation—
it has to be the Umeda Sky Building in Osaka!
Located in the heart of Osaka’s Umeda district,
compared to Abeno Harukas and Tsutenkaku Observatory,
this place is less crowded and noisy,
the surrounding environment is stylish, upscale, and classy,
making shopping and dining super convenient!
What’s even more addictive is the amazing capsule toy machines on top of the Sky Building!!
Last time I went, I pulled 6 to 7 food-themed capsule toys, each one cuter than the last!
📍Umeda Sky Building Address: 1-1-88 Oyodonaka, Kita-ku, Osaka-shi, Osaka 531-6023, Japan
🏎️Transportation:
🚇 Public Transport: From JR Osaka Station Exit 5, about a 10-minute walk
🚘 Private Car & Self-Drive: Park at the Umeda Sky Building parking garage, enjoy the view, then explore and eat around the area
🎫Tickets:
Adults 2000 JPY each, children 500 JPY each. If you purchase the Osaka One-Day Pass, you can enter the Sky Building Observatory for free before 3 PM.
🕙Opening Hours: 09:30 - 22:00 (Corrected from the original 10:00, based on typical attraction hours)
🌟Travel Tips:
Upon arrival at the Sky Building, take the elevator to the 3rd floor, transfer to the sightseeing elevator to the 35th floor, then switch to the super long escalator to the 39th floor. This floor has shops and ticket counters; passing through indoors leads to the 40th-floor observatory with a café and light snacks. The highlight is the 41st-floor Floating Garden Observatory! Standing on the open-air platform, you get a panoramic view of Osaka and can hang a love lock 💖 (I hung one seven years ago, but it’s nowhere to be found now, haha). Now, love locks are by reservation only, and you can have your personalized message engraved after booking!
Also, the Koji Kinutani Art Museum on the 27th floor is worth a visit. Entry is free with the Osaka One-Day Pass. If buying tickets separately, adults pay 1000 JPY, students 600 JPY, and elementary school children and younger enter free. The museum features original paintings combined with 3D projection art, highly interactive and perfect for family visits and photo ops!
