Osaka, a city full of vibrant fun and warm culture. From the moment I set foot here, I was drawn in by the positive energy and the friendly smiles of the people. Everything seemed lively, bright, and incredibly vibrant.
Getting around Osaka is very easy and convenient. I used an ICOCA card, which is perfect for tourists because you can tap it to ride the subway, JR trains, or buses all over the city without worrying about buying multiple tickets. The clear English signs helped me travel comfortably and confidently.
Dotonbori district was the first place I was excited to visit because it’s the hub of delicious food and colorful lights in Osaka. I followed the sound of laughter and the aroma of freshly fried takoyaki. The moment I took the first bite, the crispy outside, soft inside, and fresh octopus made me fall in love with this local snack instantly. The special sweet and savory sauce paired perfectly with the takoyaki. Besides that, there were ramen, fresh sushi, and cute desserts to try along both sides of the canal.
Next, I strolled to Shinsaibashi, a famous shopping street filled with adorable fashion stores, trendy stationery shops, and charming themed cafes that made me enjoy shopping and taking photos. I picked up small souvenirs like stickers and notebooks full of creativity and even took a break sipping coffee in a cute cafe that made me feel like I was in a dream world.
Osaka Castle, a symbol of history I didn’t want to miss, impressed me with its beauty and majestic architecture. I walked around the castle garden filled with seasonal trees and flowers, feeling peaceful and immersed in a nostalgic atmosphere. From the top of the castle, I saw a wide view of Osaka city, where modern skyscrapers and beautiful nature blended perfectly.
Another place that thrilled me was Universal Studios Japan, or USJ. It felt like stepping into a world of fun and imagination. The Harry Potter zone created an atmosphere like entering a magical world. I walked around Hogsmeade village, sipped cold butterbeer, and enjoyed exciting rides. The Mario and Minion zones were cute and full of laughter. I played games with my favorite characters and took fun photos until I lost track of time.
I also visited Nara, a nearby city to Osaka. It’s a small, charming, and peaceful town with friendly deer roaming around. I bought senbei crackers to feed the deer. They came close, and some bowed as if greeting old friends—a heart-melting sight. The surroundings were full of beautiful gardens and ancient temples, perfect for relaxing and capturing wonderful memories.
One night, I chose to stay in a traditional Japanese ryokan with tatami mats and soft futons, along with an outdoor onsen surrounded by nature. The sound of flowing water and the breeze through the leaves made me feel relaxed and refreshed. The Japanese breakfast served rice, grilled fish, rolled omelet, and hot miso soup, giving me energy for the next day.
Although my Japanese isn’t fluent yet, the people of Osaka are very kind and helpful. Everyone was ready to assist with smiles and gestures, making me feel like I made new friends everywhere I went.
Osaka is not just a lovely and modern city but one full of warm memories. From the smell of takoyaki by the canal, the smiles of the people, the fun at USJ, to the tranquility of Nara, everything filled my heart with happiness.
Osaka… you are the most lovely and warm city in my heart and will remain in my memories forever.
