[Osaka] HANKYU BRICK MUSEUM



On the 1st floor of the Hankyu Sanbangai North Building, there is a spot called "HANKYU BRICK MUSEUM" that exhibits LEGO® block creations. (It’s near the LEGO shop.)
The works are created by Junpei Mitsui, Japan’s only certified LEGO® professional builder. There are five intricate and impressive pieces mainly related to Osaka and the Kansai region on display, making it one of Umeda’s landmarks.

"Under the Wave off Kanagawa"
This piece recreates "Under the Wave off Kanagawa," one of the most iconic works from Hokusai Katsushika’s "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji."
The powerful waves’ undulations, the boat’s movement matching the waves, and the three-dimensional depiction of Mount Fuji in the background are all expressed in detail.

"Cloud Dragon"
The original painting was created in 1763 (Hōreki 13) by Soga Shōhaku, a wandering painter, at age 34 on sliding doors.
This work, composed of eight panels each measuring 165 cm tall by 135 cm wide, is currently housed at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
It features a dynamic composition with great impact.

"Kyotrain Garaku"
The sightseeing limited express "Kyotrain Garaku" has been running on the Hankyu Kyoto Line since March 2019.
This piece reproduces not only the exterior but also the carefully designed interior details such as the courtyard garden and circular windows, as well as the undercarriage of the train car.

"Arashiyama"
This piece recreates the streetscape of Arashiyama, a famous sightseeing spot representing Kyoto.
In addition to the iconic Togetsukyo Bridge, tourist spots like Tenryu-ji Temple are faithfully reproduced, making it like a sightseeing map.
On the Togetsukyo Bridge, not only tourists but also many rickshaws and cars pass by, expressing the lively atmosphere unique to Arashiyama.

"Minoh Waterfall"
This impressive piece recreates Minoh Waterfall, located in Meiji no Mori Minoh Quasi-National Park in Minoh City, Osaka Prefecture, which is also selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls, along with the vividly colored autumn leaves of Minoh Mountain.
Not only tourists but also the natural monument "Japanese macaques" that come down to the foot of the mountain appear as mini-figures.
