The former site of Shangrao Concentration Camp is located at No. 66 Lingyuan Road, Xinzhou District, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, covering an area of 2 square kilometers.
The Shangrao Concentration Camp refers to a fascist concentration camp established by the Kuomintang's Military Intelligence Bureau in Shangrao, Jiangxi Province. The camps consisted of Qifengyan, Zhoutian Village, Maojialing, and Licun, all located near Shangrao. Because they were all located near Shangrao, they are collectively referred to as the "Shangrao Concentration Camp." The Shangrao Concentration Camp site comprises four major tourist areas: the central scenic area, the Zhoutian Prison site, the Licun Prison site, and the Qifengyan Prison site.
The Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery was established in 1955, and numerous memorial structures, including a cemetery, monuments, memorial halls, and pavilions, have been subsequently constructed. The Shangrao Concentration Camp serves as a historical textbook on the struggle of revolutionary pioneers against the enemy, and also as a legacy and spiritual treasure left to future generations by the martyrs. The camp's Qifengyan Ancient Zen Temple, Gexian Temple, Zhuge Ancestral Hall, and the former site of the Fourth Squadron, all built from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China, hold historical and artistic value.
On January 13, 1988, the Shangrao Concentration Camp Site was announced by the State Council of the People's Republic of China as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units; on February 1, 2009, the Shangrao Concentration Camp was approved as a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
Shangrao City has a warm and humid climate, belonging to the subtropical humid climate. This warm climate, abundant sunshine, plentiful rainfall, and a long frost-free period allow for lush crop growth. Major weather hazards include winter snow, drought, lightning, and heavy rain.
The Shangrao Concentration Camp site is divided into four major tourist areas: the central scenic area, the Zhoutian Prison site area, the Licun Prison site area, and the Qifengyan Prison site area.
Among them, the central scenic area of the old site is the Shangrao Concentration Camp Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery, which covers an area of 0.2 square kilometers and has many memorial buildings such as the Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, Martyrs Cemetery, Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall and Martyrs Memorial Pavilion.
Zhoutian Prison is distributed with a well-preserved ancestral hall, 13 rooms of various sizes, including the Upper and Lower Zhoutian Prisons (which are the cells for imprisoning the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th squadrons and the girls' team), an auditorium, a morgue, the "Seven Gentlemen" cells, the "Officers' Battalion Headquarters", the "Special Training Class" headquarters, Zhang Chao's office, the captain's room, etc., covering an area of more than 30 acres.
The former site of Licun Prison is a red stone and wooden tile structure, a bungalow with 4 small rooms.
