[Osaka] Sakai City Shinmei Shrine

Shinmei Shrine, located near the south exit of Sakai Station, was established in the 12th year of the Tenpō era by Sakai magistrate Mizuno Wakasa-no-kami, who prayed for the prosperity and development of this town and ordered the enshrinement of the local guardian deities, newly enshrining Amaterasu Omikami and Toyouke Omikami as the main deities.
The shrine enshrines a total of 16 deities, including Amaterasu Omikami and Toyouke Omikami, and is said to be called the "Ise Shrine of Sakai."
The shrine building was completed the following year, and a grand festival was held.
Most of the buildings on the shrine grounds were destroyed in the great air raid of 1945. After more than 50 years, as part of postwar restoration, the shrine building was newly constructed in 1997, and the shrine grounds were developed.

Also, at the nearby Ohama Park, you can get a climbing certificate for Sotateyama (the lowest mountain in Japan with a first-class triangulation point) issued at the shrine office.
It seems to be basically self-service, so it’s okay to put a donation in the offering box.
It appears to be a shrine visited not only by locals but also by mountain climbing enthusiasts from various places✨
