Located in the Namba district in central Osaka.
It's only a 5-10 minute walk from Namba Station or Daikokucho Station.
It's "very close to the Dotonbori/Shinsaibashi shopping district." It's convenient to visit before or after shopping. 🙏
🦁 Highlights — The Giant Lion Head "Shishi-den"
• The giant lion head (獅子殿) is the symbol of the shrine.
• The lion's mouth is wide open, and there's a stage inside. 🦁
• According to Japanese belief, "lions swallow evil and bring good fortune."
→ Japanese people often come here to pray for victory, success, exams, competitions, or careers.
📸 Popular Photo Spot:
Stand in the center of the "lion's mouth" and take a full-frame photo. This is a must-have for any Japanese traveler!
🌸 Shrine Atmosphere
• It's a medium-sized shrine. The atmosphere is peaceful but not lonely.
• There are small shrines surrounding the shrine where you can pray for blessings in love, finances, and health.
• On some days, you might even see Japanese people dressed in kimono paying their respects. The atmosphere is very warm and local.
🪅 Special Events
• Every January, the Tug-of-War Festival (綱引神事) or "Rope-Walking Festival" is held to pray for overcoming obstacles and good fortune.
It is one of Osaka's most important traditional festivals.
• During New Year, it is packed with Japanese people, as they believe that "starting the new year by letting a lion swallow bad things" is the belief. 🧧
🧭 Access
• Osaka Metro Midosuji Line / Yotsubashi Line / Nankai Line
→ Get off at Namba Station (難波駅) and walk for about 6–8 minutes.
• Or from Daikokucho Station (大国町駅), it's just a 5-minute walk.
💡 Traveler Tips
• Go early in the morning or late in the morning. The light is beautiful and there aren't many people.
• Take photos from a low angle to make the lion's head look impressive. 📷
• If you have time, you can also walk to Dotonbori or Namba Parks. They're very close.
