Located in Nakanoshima Park, east of the Museum of Oriental Ceramics, "Children's Book Forest Nakanoshima" is a library that opened on July 5, 2020. It is a cultural facility donated to Osaka City by Tadao Ando.
The building, designed by Tadao Ando, features a three-story atrium with staircases and bridges. The walls are lined with bookshelves, creating a uniquely designed space where visitors can enjoy reading. The passageways leading further inside are also packed with books. There is a space by the windows where you can read while enjoying views of the Dojima River.
While the library does not lend out books, the entire facility, including the park, serves as a reading space. It’s a place where children can develop a love for books, and there are plenty of books for adults to enjoy as well.✨
Admission is free, but advance reservations are required via the official website. Each session accommodates 100 reserved visitors, and an additional 50 walk-in visitors are allowed on a first-come, first-served basis. However, during events, walk-in slots are not available, so it’s better to check and make a reservation beforehand.
