Another popular location for viewing Mount Fuji is Oshino Hakkai, also known as "Clear Water Village," located not far from Kawaguchiko in Yamanashi Prefecture.
From within the village, you can get a clear view of Mount Fuji, with the majestic mountain towering in the background. On a clear day, you can see Fuji clearly and beautifully. Combined with the village's traditional Japanese atmosphere, it's truly breathtaking! The vibe is simply breathtaking.
Clear Water Village is an ancient village and a World Heritage Site. Within the village, there are eight clear ponds formed by the melting snow on Mount Fuji. The water is incredibly clear, so clear that you can even see the fish swimming at the bottom. Some ponds are filled with coins, as people believe. When the sun shines, the coins reflect the sunlight, creating a sparkling effect. It's absolutely beautiful!
In addition to the potable water, there are also many souvenir shops selling various sweets. Grilled mochi and grilled fish are a must-try. The grilled mochi is filled with red bean paste, and eating it hot in the cold weather is so amazing! The grilled fish is also amazing, as it's from the village pond. They say the meat is incredibly tender, but we didn't get to try it in time. What a shame!
You can take the F-line bus from Kawaguchiko Station to the village. However, the lotus flowers are quite rare, so be sure to check the timings carefully.
