I recently booked a 3-day and 2-night trip to Lake Kawaguchi, Japan on Trip.com and stayed at the Fujikyu Highland resort hotel. Not only is the hotel good value for money, but the itinerary is smooth and you can have breakfast every day facing Mount Fuji! Let me share my itinerary and experiences with you now~

[Accommodation Recommendation] Hyland Spa Resort (Fuji-Q Highland Resort)
Advantages:
· The location is unbeatable: the express bus stop is right in front of the hotel.
· Perfect surrounding facilities: The hotel has 2 specialty restaurants, a direct fast access to Fujikyu Park, a 7-11 convenience store and Mount Fuji Onsen. It only takes 10 minutes to walk from the hot springs to Donki and the civilian restaurant.
· Free shuttle bus: The hotel offers free buses to and from the main station, which is really important for visitors!
· Great view of the room: The room has a clear view of Mount Fuji, waking up every day in a great mood!
· Complete travel information: The hotel lobby has all the information on Lake Kawaguchi bus routes, planning your trip is super easy!

【Day 1】Oshino Hakkai → Lake Yamanaka
We took the 8:35 express bus from Shinjuku and arrived at the hotel at 10:20. After dropping off our luggage and registering, we started our trip for the day. Because we couldn’t catch the hourly free shuttle bus to Fujikyu Station, the hotel provided free tickets for us to get through Fujikyu Park to catch the bus, straight to Oshino Hakkai.
Oshino Hakkai is really well-deserved, the water is clear to the bottom, and you can taste specialty snacks such as grass cake, minced beef cake and octopus balls, then take the bus to Yamanaka Lake, unfortunately Yamanaka Lake Cafe has closed at 3 pm, had to check in.
To catch the last train from the hotel, we ate Mos Burger at Mount Fuji Station, then returned to the hotel and went to a nearby 7-11 to buy supper to end the first day easily!

[Day 2] Lake Kawaguchi: Cable Car → Lake Wave Restaurant → Oishi Park
Breakfast at the hotel buffet, the food was decent, nothing special surprises, but the 2-story giant floor-to-ceiling glass windows with a clear view of Mount Fuji for breakfast was super enjoyable!
After breakfast, take the hotel’s free bus to Kawaguchiko Station, then transfer to the Kawaguchiko Red Line bus to the Tenshinyama Park Cable Car. Be aware, however, that the cable car station is not very wheelchair friendly, with many stairs to go up.
After going down the mountain, I walked along Lake Kawaguchi, passing several boutiques and buying a lot of souvenirs. Then walk to a Japanese restaurant called "Lake Po", the restaurant has a large space, a wide variety of food and reasonable prices, worth recommending!
After dinner, we took the bus to Oishi Park. Although the garden is smaller than expected, the sea of flowers and the background of Mount Fuji are really beautiful. Finally, take the Red Line back to Kawaguchiko Station, then change to the hotel's free bus back to the hotel.

[Day 3] Donki shopping → return trip
I have to leave by high-speed bus at 12am today, so there are no special arrangements for attractions. After breakfast, walk to Donki to shop as the perfect end to the whole trip!

【summary】
This trip to Lake Kawaguchi was really fulfilling, the hotel’s location and facilities are perfect for independent travelers. Although there were a few regrets in the trip (such as Lake Yamanaka Cafe closing early), the overall experience was still full marks! If you want to plan a relaxing and memorable trip to Lake Kawaguchi, you might as well refer to my itinerary!
