Hoshino Resorts OMO5 Otaru

Hoshino Resorts OMO5 Otaru is about a 640m walk from JR Otaru Station. The Otaru Art Village and the Shiribeshi Art Museum are about 100m away, the famous Otaru Canal is about 300m away, and the historic Sakaimachi Street is just over 800m away. There are also many convenience stores around the hotel. The location is excellent, making it easy to travel, shop, and dine.

The hotel consists of the renovated South Wing of the former Otaru Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the newly built North Wing. We chose the newly built North Wing. Room types include double and triple rooms. Our family chose a triple room, which was perfect for us. Japanese hotel rooms are not large, but they are fully functional. The modern facilities and dry/wet separated bathrooms are quite comfortable. There is also a small living room area with a sofa that seats 4 people and a rectangular coffee table, providing a space to enjoy food, chat, and have tea.

There is a common area on the 4th floor of the hotel with a microwave for heating food purchased from convenience stores, as well as free drinking water and ice. Because many guests go skiing in Otaru during the winter, there is a drying room on the first floor for ski boards, boots, and gloves. Japanese convenience stores have so many delicious foods, so we didn't book the hotel breakfast and instead bought various delicious foods and milk for breakfast.

The hotel service is very proper and meticulous. Check-out time is 11:00 am, but luggage storage is available, which is convenient for guests who want to continue exploring after checking out. Although it was freezing outside, the heating in the hotel was very good. The only downside is that Otaru in March is often windy and snowy, and the temperature is low. The side streets around the hotel are icy and slippery, so be careful.
