The vast expanse of Lake Abashiri

If you're driving, simply follow the Abashiri Tanno Line to reach the shores of Lake Abashiri. For those taking the JR train, you can get off at JR Abashiri Station and take the Sekihoku Main Line to Memanbetsu Station. From there, it's less than a 5-minute walk to the lake.

Lake Abashiri, with its endless view, is a tranquil spot with few visitors. On one side, there is a camping area where a few families are setting up their tents. The other side is sparsely populated with residential areas. There used to be a hotel across from the train station, but it has since closed down.

The greatest charm of this lake is its serenity. Alongside the lake, there is a long pathway adorned with clusters of water plants, showcasing the beauty of nature. Taking a stroll along this path can be a soul-cleansing experience and is highly recommended. On a clear day, the blue skies, white clouds, and the shimmering blue lake create a breathtakingly picturesque scene.
