Choose this guesthouse in Ehime - NIPPONIA HOTEL

Having traveled from Hakodate to Kumamoto before, I've stayed at many places across Japan.

This hotel revitalizes historic buildings along ancient streets into stylish yet comfortable guest rooms.

Each room carries its own legacy - some were originally sake cellars, others luxurious merchant residences. Learning about each building's history and imagining life in those eras is part of Japan's unique lodging charm.

This visit took me to Ozu, Ehime's ancient capital, where stone-paved streets beneath Ozu Castle resonate with timeless atmosphere.

The property features 26 traditional Japanese buildings - castle-view dining halls, courtyards, inns, and even a theme park recreating an old townscape, creating an incredible Japanese cultural wonderland.

I stayed in [Room YUKI802], a renovated residence originally belonging to Umajiro Imaoka, founder of Imaoka Silk Mill who supported Ozu's modern industries. The second-floor windows overlook a garden with a grand plum tree.

The room preserves period charm through decorative alcoves, built-in cabinets, cocoon-shaped lamps, and silk scrolls showcasing Ozu's textile heritage - all blending historical authenticity with breathtaking design.

• Room Features: Windows, tatami floors, earthen entryways, and traditional furnishings showcase local history, while modern amenities ensure comfortable stays amidst preserved architectural heritage.
