A Mountain for Reflection with a View of the Imjin River: A Review of Conquering the Summit of Gamaksan Mountain, Gyeonggi Province (E)
Climbing to the summit of Gamaksan Mountain (675m), one of the Five Peaks of Gyeonggi Province, was the perfect way to savor the sense of accomplishment of a #AutumnTravel experience. I chose the route that began at the Suspension Bridge, passing through Beopryunsa Temple and the steep steps to the summit. While the initial slope and steps were quite challenging, the vibrant autumn foliage surrounding me made the climb effortless.
Standing at the summit, the hardships felt instantly rewarded. The panoramic views were breathtaking, and the sight of the winding Imjin River in the distance felt especially peaceful under the autumn sky. Gamaksan Mountain is said to have been called "Gamsaek Mountain" (Golden Blue Mountain) because of the simultaneous hues of black and blue emanating from its rocks. Under the autumn sunlight, the crimson leaves and the unique colors of the rocky mountain blended together to create a mystical atmosphere. The deck path and photo zone around the summit were perfect for capturing wonderful commemorative photos. If you're looking for more than just a short trek, but a truly authentic autumn hike, and are looking forward to the breathtaking views that reward your efforts, we recommend the Gamaksan summit trail. Hiking boots and plenty of water are a must!
