Visit Panzhihua in Winter, and You'll Have a Great Time!

This was my first time visiting Panzhihua, Sichuan, and I stayed at the newly opened Atour Hotel Panzhihua Jinhai Century City in Dong District, the only Atour hotel in the city. Here's my experience and nearby attractions.
📍Location:
This Atour Hotel is located in the core area of Panzhihua, next to the city's main thoroughfare, Sanxian Avenue. It's convenient to reach by taxi or bus from Panzhihua Railway Station.
The hotel is surrounded by a residential area. For restaurants, you'll need to walk about 10 minutes to the area near Hilton Garden Inn Panzhihua Zhonghuan Tiandi, where there are many dining options.
🏨Hotel Environment:
This Atour Hotel just opened at the end of 2024, so it's only been operating for about half a year.
The building appears to be a converted sales center, giving it a different layout than typical Atour hotels, with overall higher-grade decor. There's even an outdoor swimming pool on the first floor, though it wasn't open during my stay.
🛏Room Facilities:
Since the hotel had just opened when I stayed, there was still some renovation smell in the hallways, though the rooms were much better.
Being brand new, the hardware facilities are excellent, and the bedding clearly aims for higher standards than typical Atour hotels.
The hotel also has a complete gym and laundry room.
🍽Dining:
I tried their late-night congee service, which was quite good. The restaurant decor is also above average for Atour.
Breakfast quality was excellent with friendly service, slightly surpassing Atour's usual standards - especially the bacon🥓, which was clearly higher quality than typical Atour breakfast fare.
🖼Nearby Attractions:
The Panzhihua China Third Front Construction Museum is about a 10-minute taxi ride from the hotel and is a must-visit in Panzhihua, with free admission.
The surrounding area has many interesting sights, like old trains at Dukou Station, the green trains between Kunming and Panzhihua, and numerous retired military equipment.
The museum itself is quite large, comprehensively covering the special period of the Third Front construction. I saw many elderly visitors who had clearly retired long ago - this place likely holds memories of their youth.
Panzhihua City Origin and Blue Tip Museum (see last two attached photos) are two niche attractions located together in the old town north of Jinsha River, a bit far from the hotel. But as this is where Panzhihua's history began, it's worth visiting if you have time.
[GlassesUU]Summary:
Overall, my stay at Atour Hotel Panzhihua Jinhai Century City was decent. Since it had just opened during my visit, there were still some renovation smells and the service was in its breaking-in period. Now after six months, the facilities and service should be at their best. Given Atour's brand reputation, this city's only Atour hotel should be a good choice for stays in Panzhihua.
