Summer Resort Liangdu Liupanshui

🌟 Liupanshui: A Symphony of Mountains, Rivers, and Culture in the Cool City 🌄

📜 The Past and Present of the Water City
Liupanshui, known as the "China Cool City" on the Guizhou Plateau, is actually a "young old city." The ancient city walls left by Ming dynasty troops still tell stories from 600 years ago, while the modern "Third Front Construction" has injected the genes of industrial civilization. With an average summer temperature of 23°C, it has become a natural summer resort paradise. Strolling through the city, you will find history and nature perfectly intertwined here.

🌊 Yelang Lake and Zangke River
More than a thousand years ago, the protagonist of Li Bai’s poem "Yelang Wanli Dao" was right here. Yelang Lake ripples with clear waves and is said to have been the watering place for horses in the ancient Yelang Kingdom. Boating on the lake, you can almost hear the sound of ancient horse hooves. The rushing Zangke River was an important route on the ancient Southwest Silk Road, and the Yi ethnic villages along its banks still preserve the unique Nuo opera culture. At a riverside shop, the owner told me, "Our tofu pudding must be made with mountain spring water to be fragrant and sweet."

🏞️ Wumeng Grassland
On the alpine grassland at 2,800 meters above sea level, Yi herders still live a nomadic life. Every year on the 24th day of the sixth lunar month, you can witness the most authentic Yi torch festival with singing and dancing. The spectacular "Ling Duan Yun Lian" scene recorded in Xu Xiake’s travel notes is performed here daily. Remember to bring a jacket; even in midsummer, the evening breeze here will give you a refreshing chill.

🏯 Memories of the Third Front Construction
The "Good People, Good Horses, Go to the Third Front" spirit of the 1960s made Liupanshui an important coal base in China. The "Third Front Construction Museum" inside the Shuigang Group Company preserves the old factory buildings and equipment from that era. The rusted mine carts bear witness to countless builders’ youth, just like the slogan in the exhibition hall: "Offer your youth, offer your life, offer your life for your descendants."

🌌 Miao Silver Jewelry Legend
In the Miao village of Liuzhi Special District, 75-year-old intangible cultural heritage inheritor Grandma Wang told me, "A wedding dress set takes three years to make." Under the moonlight, she demonstrated the ancient chasing and engraving technique, the sound of the silver hammer crisp and pleasant. "Girls nowadays still like heirloom-style dowries," she said as the silver pieces in her hands gleamed softly.

🍜 Food Tips
Be sure to try the Water City mutton rice noodles, with broth simmered for 12 hours using local black goat bones. The 30-year-old shop next to the market still insists on using a wood-fired stove. The owner said, "An induction cooker can’t cook the soul." Paired with fish mint and spicy chili paste, this is the most authentic flavor of the Cool City.

From the ancient Yelang Kingdom to the new Third Front city, from Yi torch festivals to Miao silver jewelry, Liupanshui preserves the most original ecological memories of Guizhou with its 23°C summer. Come here, and you will not only take away a cool body but also a southwestern legend woven with mountains, rivers, and culture.
