A must-see for your trip to France: the Eiffel Tower Travel Guide

Paris is a sprawling city and the best way to see it is from up above. There are many spots in the city where you can take in the panoramas from every angle! Each legendary viewpoint offers its own take on the city’s photogenic rooftops, iconic landmarks, and endless charm—from classic romance to sleek urban style. Here are my top spots for viewing Paris from high up:
1️⃣ Sacré-Cœur Viewpoint
Head to the summit of Montmartre for sweeping city views. Climb the basilica’s dome (open daily 8:30 AM–8 PM). Shoot at sunset, framing the rooftops zig-zagging toward the Eiffel Tower. Or if you head there in the early morning, you will beat the crowds. After you finish, enjoy a coffee and pastry in on of Montmartre’s many cafés.
2️⃣ Arc de Triomphe Rooftop
Take the spiral steps to the top (10 AM–10:30 PM daily). Stand beneath the arch before heading up for wide Champs-Élysées photos. Try a dusk visit to catch Paris lighting up. The Arc de Triomphe is located at the center of a roundabout, so you will have 360 degree views of the city.
3️⃣ Galeries Lafayette Haussmann Rooftop
This free-access terrace (open Mon–Sat 10 AM–8 PM, Sun 11 AM–8 PM) delivers a fantastic Eiffel view framed by classic domes. Must-do: Sip a coffee and take photos with the Opera Garnier backdrop.
4️⃣ Eiffel Tower Viewpoint
Choose summit tickets for ultimate skyline shots (open 9:30 AM–10:45 PM). Panoramas from the second floor—best for capturing Paris’ sprawl and the Seine’s curves. It’s recommended to book tickets online as it can get quite busy.
🏨 Where to Stay:
Hotel Paris Lafayette is located in a safe and convenient neighborhood. The rooms are clean and it’s a short walk to the Sacré-Cœur.
🥖 Where to Eat:
🥣 Bouillon Pigalle
🥞 P’tit Grec
🥪 Benchy
