Traveling by Thai-KTM-Fery train, Hat Yai-Penang, budget 150฿

Start from
1. Travel by Thai train: There are 2 trains: 07.20 and 14.00. The price is 50 baht and the travel time is about 50 minutes.

2. Padang Besar-Butterworth
- Travel by KTM train, the price is 11.4 ringgit or about 85 baht, the travel time is about 2 hours (the train is very punctual).

You can buy tickets at the station. You can use the automatic ticket vending machine or ask the officer where you are going. Or if anyone is traveling to Kuala Lumpur, you can buy tickets here as well.

3. Butterworth-Penang
- Travel by ferry When you arrive at Butterworth train station, continue by ferry, the price is 2RM (15฿), the travel time is about 10-15 minutes.

This is less cash. And for those who still think that Penang ferry tickets can only be paid by credit card, please adjust again. Travel cards can be used as long as there is a VISA or Mastercard symbol with enough money on the card to pay.

Because there were many of us and it was raining, we called Grab to drop us off at the hotel for only 6RM (47฿) for 4 people. It was so cheap😍😍 Penang will definitely come back every year.

$ Total expenses
- Hat Yai Junction-Padang Besar train 50฿
- Padang Besar-Butterworth train 11RM (85฿)
- Butterworth-Georgetown ferry 2RM 15฿

Including the cost of traveling by train from Hat Yai to Penang, approximately 150 baht, and a van from Penang to Hat Yai, 55RM (426฿) per person, or a round trip, the cost is no more than 600 baht. It's very worthwhile for traveling abroad.
