Afternoon snack at 重庆烧烤 ChongQing Shaokao, Kota Damansara

In this constantly growing neighborhood where there are big Chinese restaurants, Chongqing Shaokao holds its own by representing specialty Chinese BBQ cuisine. Located at the entrance of Sunway Nexis, the restaurant has two floors and indoor and outdoor seating areas. Well prepared for big Chinese dinners, they have at least two private dining rooms on the second floor with big round tables and a TV/monitor screen either for viewing montages, movies or slideshows. Primarily focused on grilled seafood and meat, the menu does not have a lot of options for vegetarians, however, the veg items that are actually on the menu are not prepared without tact and taste. One of the favorite specialties here is the Eggplant with Garlic. Simple as it may sound, the dish presents a perfectly charred halved eggplant with its flesh melding with the garlic on top. The flavors combined - burnt taste of the eggplant skin, slightly sweet eggplant flesh, mixed with the garlic and spice powder, is an appetite lifter, a good picker upper before a real meal.
