Van Thuy Tu Temple - Mui Ne, Vietnam

In 1762, the Vietnamese found a dead whale on the seashore. Legend say that the whale died saving the life of a fisherman caught in a storm. People believed that the whale was a sacred animal, so after 4 years a temple was built here.

Inside the temple is a 23 meter long whale skeleton (you can touch and photograph it), an altar for worshiping the god Whale and a crypt with the bones of all the whales found dead in this part of Vietnam.

Address: Ngư Ông, Đức Thắng, Thành phố Phan Thiết, Bình Thuận, Vietnam.
