Worshiping Phra Buddha Chinnarat in Phitsanulok Province

Phra Buddha Chinnarat, Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Woramahawihan
A sacred object revered by Phitsanulok residents.

Phra Buddha Chinnarat is a Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture, considered "the most beautiful in Thailand." It is enshrined in the main viharn of Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Woramahawihan, also known as "Wat Yai," by the locals. It sits on the banks of the Nan River in the heart of Phitsanulok.

✨ Highlights to pay homage to:
- The Phra Buddha Chinnarat is cast in bronze and lacquered and gilded, exhibiting a graceful and proportionate Buddha image.
- The carved wooden glass pavilion, lacquered and gilded, features delicate and elegant designs.
- The giant deities Thao Wessuwan and Thao Alawaka are enshrined beside the Buddha image, guarding the Buddha's protection.
- The doors of the viharn are inlaid with ancient mother-of-pearl, the work of master Thai artisans.

🕊️ Enhance auspiciousness.
- Every Saturday morning, there is an alms-giving ceremony in front of the viharn.
- The Phra Buddha Chinnarat worship ceremony is held annually in the third lunar month (6th–12th waxing moon).
