Introducing Sanping Scenic Area

Sanping Scenic Area is located in Wenfeng Town, Pinghe County, Zhangzhou City, 47 kilometers from Zhangzhou City and 100 kilometers from Xiamen. The planned scenic area covers 20 square kilometers. The central scenic area, 12 square kilometers in size, is centered around Sanping Temple. Over a thousand years of evolution, the area has preserved numerous cultural landmarks, known as the Eight Scenic Spots of Ancient Times and the Twenty-Four Scenic Spots of Modern Times. Its "three and a half halls" structure is a nationally rare sight. In 2004, Sanping Scenic Area was designated as one of the sixth provincial-level scenic spots, and in 2005, it was designated a national 4A-level tourist area.

Sanping Temple, located within the scenic area, has endured wars, fires, and natural disasters throughout the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing, and Republic of China dynasties, undergoing repairs, renovations, and reconstructions over 100 times. The existing Sanping Temple has undergone continuous maintenance since 1979, with its overall layout and architectural style largely preserved in accordance with ancient texts.
