Praying to Phra Phuttha Chinnarat at Wat Yai

๐Ÿ˜ Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat Woramahawihan is believed to have been built before the Sukhothai period and has been a royal temple since its inception.
๐Ÿž According to the Northern Chronicles, around 1900 BE, King Si Thammasokarat (King Maha Thammaracha I) of the Sukhothai Kingdom constructed Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat on the eastern bank of the Nan River. The temple featured a central prang, four directional viharns, and two-tiered cloisters. He also commissioned the casting of three Buddha statues to serve as the principal images in the three viharns.
๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ Later, in 2458 BE, King Rama VI elevated the temple to the status of a first-class royal temple.

Key highlights and attractions within the temple include:
๐Ÿ  The Main Viharn: Built during the Sukhothai period and consistently restored to maintain its condition. It houses Phra Phuttha Chinnarat, considered one of the most beautiful Buddha images in the world.
๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ Phra Luea: After creating Phra Phuttha Chinnarat, Phra Phuttha Chinnasi, and Phra Si Satsada, King Li Thai ordered artisans to use the leftover bronze to cast a small Buddha image in the Mara Vichaya posture, known as "Phra Luea." The remaining bronze was then used to cast two standing disciple statues.
โ›บ Viharn Phra Chao Khao Nipphan: Houses a gilded coffin (symbolic) containing the relics of the Lord Buddha.
