At “Mae Nang Plueum” Temple
In front is an ancient archway. When walking through it, it feels like you have traveled back in time to the ancient Ayutthaya Kingdom. It is very sacred and sacred.
The temple has a legend related to King Naresuan the Great. The temple writes that
“Mae Pluem” was a villager living alone on the riverside in the suburbs of Phra Nakhon. He had no children or grandchildren. One day, King Naresuan rowed a boat alone in the rain. When he arrived, he saw that the hut was still lit by a lantern, so he stopped in the hut. When Mae Nang Plueum saw that his clothes were wet, he kindly invited him. However, he spoke loudly. Mae Pluem warned him not to be so loud, saying that if the King heard him in the evening, he would be angry. He spoke loudly that he wanted to drink sandalwood water to warm his body. However, Mae Pluem said that it was a Buddhist holy day. If he wanted to drink it, he had to do so without causing trouble for the King. His Majesty agreed and stayed overnight at Mae Pluem’s house. In the morning, he returned to the palace. Later, he ordered a procession to take Mae Pluem to be raised in the palace. Because Mae Pluem was a compassionate person who was loyal to the King, when Mae Pluem died, King Naresuan held a funeral to honor her. And built this temple as a souvenir
👉🏻 We arrived at 4 pm on Sunday. There weren't many people. The weather was nice. We could worship comfortably. The light was beautiful. We got a lot of pictures. We also got lucky numbers to share with everyone (last picture). It's another old temple in Ayutthaya that's really worth a visit.
🫶🏻 Lisa has also visited.
