Ayutthaya City Pillar Shrine

#CulturalTravel #100TravelWays Ayutthaya City Pillar Shrine According to many Ayutthaya Chronicles, it is said that King Ramathibodi or King U Thong established Ayutthaya on Friday, the 6th waning moon of the 5th lunar month, 1893 BE. A Brahmin priest gave an auspicious time to hold the card-burying ceremony. A conch shell was cast under a barberry tree. It is assumed that the city pillar was established at the same time. The architectural design and construction are a four-sided pavilion made of brick and mortar. There are 4 entrances and 3 stairs. The roof is a prang-shaped spire. The topmost spire is decorated with three layers of napasula or napasula. It is truly beautiful. #travel #Ayutthaya
