🛻 One Day Trip to Ayutthaya - A Day Trip is Enough
Just over an hour's drive from Bangkok, you'll arrive in Ayutthaya without tiring at all! A day of sightseeing is all you need for food, offerings, cafes, and souvenirs!
✨ Start the day hungry!
We arrived before even entering a temple, so we stopped to refuel at the Central Agricultural Market. Our destination was Goong Puean Praew, famous for its large grilled river prawns with a deliciously spicy dipping sauce. They also offer a wide selection of other dishes, including tom yum, grilled fish, and grilled squid. We were full and ready to go!
🛕 First Temple: Wat Kudi Dao
This ancient temple lacks a roof, but its artistically ruined beauty is evident! Highlights include the large prang and the ancient viharn, which are stunningly beautiful. The sunset gives off a truly Korean vibe. A must-see for photography enthusiasts.
📿 Offering Candles for Buddhist Lent + Paying Homage
On the way, we stopped at another temple to offer candles for Buddhist Lent. Enhance your life during this Buddhist Lent. It was a short trip, but I made merit and was completely satisfied.
☕️ Take a coffee break at Summer House Coffee (Old Town).
This shop is absolutely stunning! Decorated in a cool exposed brick style, there are tons of photo spots. The desserts are delicious, and the coffee is excellent. Cafe lovers will love it! We chilled and took lots of photos, like we were taking a break before heading back into the city.
🎁 Must-try souvenir: Roti Sai Mai!
Before heading back to Bangkok, don't forget to pick up some of Ayutthaya's best roti sai mai. For soft, fragrant, and slightly sweet roti, we recommend checking out the famous shops along U Thong Road. You're guaranteed to love it.
🚗 Drive back to Bangkok in the late afternoon.
It was a relaxing day, filled with food, merit, and a relaxing cafe. If you've never taken a day trip to Ayutthaya, you have to try it.
