This is one of the most important and famous temples in the Ayutthaya Historical Park. Inside the temple is a large chedi (Chedi Chai Mongkol), towering and visible from afar. Inside, you can climb the stairs for a bird's-eye view of Ayutthaya Island. Outside the chedi, a large reclining Buddha image is a popular spot for worship and blessings.

Wat Yai Chai Mongkol is a must-see destination for those visiting Ayutthaya, as it is both beautiful and striking, and steeped in history.
