This is an important museum in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, located on Rojana Road (near the old city hall). It has been open to the public since 1961.
✅️Importance
Built to preserve artifacts recovered from the excavations of Wat Mahathat and Wat Ratchaburana (where the prang and numerous treasures were discovered). It was named "Chao Sam Phraya" in honor of King Ai Phraya, King Yi Phraya, and King Borommarachathirat II (Chao Sam Phraya), who played important roles in the Ayutthaya period.
✅️Key exhibits
1. Treasures from the Wat Ratchaburana crypt ✨
Gold animal figures and various designs, royal swords, gold scabbards decorated with gems, royal utensils, jewelry, and exquisite gold enamel.
2. Ayutthaya and pre-Ayutthaya artifacts: stone Buddha images, terracotta Buddha images, stone inscriptions, Sangkhalok porcelain, and Chinese porcelain.
3. Art from other cultures: Japanese porcelain (Arita and Imari), Persian and European porcelain imported for trade.
