: Pray, take photos, and eat shrimp (until you burst!)
Here's my plan, follow along:
Early Morning (8:30 AM - 10:00 AM) – Fortune-boosting:
📍Wat Yai Chaimongkol: You must climb the pagoda! The view is absolutely stunning, and you can also pay respects to the reclining Buddha for good fortune. (Free admission / Make merit according to your faith)
Late Morning (10:30 AM - 12:00 PM) – Relive the ancient city:
📍Wat Mahathat: The highlight is the Buddha's head in tree roots. After taking photos, stroll around this ancient temple, which is incredibly sacred. It feels like you've traveled back in time! (Entrance fee: 10-20 baht)
Noon (12:30 PM - 2:00 PM) – Shrimp-eating mission:
🍤 For lunch, it has to be grilled shrimp! I went to a restaurant near the central market of Ayutthaya or a restaurant along the Chao Phraya River! The giant river shrimp were so juicy and delicious, you'd forget you were fat!
Afternoon (2:30 PM - 4:00 PM) – Chill Out Café:
☕️ Check in at a chic cafe! The afternoon sun is intense, so you need a place to hide! We recommend a vintage-style cafe or one with a great view to relax and enjoy a refreshing coffee before continuing your adventure. (Try finding a famous cafe in the old city.)
Evening (4:30 PM - 5:30 PM) – Last Light:
🌅 Wat Chaiwatthanaram: The ultimate destination! Come in the late afternoon when the light starts to turn a golden orange. Take photos with the grand prang—it's truly spectacular! It's like stepping into a movie! (Entrance fee: 10-20 baht)
Before you leave (5:30 PM - 6:30 PM) – Must-try souvenirs:
🍬 Roti Sai Mai: Stop by and pick up some delicious roti sai mai to take home! Pick up two or three to compare! (Recommend the one opposite Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital.)
