Phuket: Homemade Russian Lunch

Halfway through our vacation, we always start missing home-cooked Russian food—borscht and pelmeni. And in the south of Phuket, we found a cafe that serves Russian dishes.

The cafe is called Mirage Cafe Bar & Restaurant.

📍69/3 Moo 6 Rawai District Proud Rawai Condominium, Rawai, Phuket 83130 Thailand

🪑 The tables here are designed for larger groups, but there are also tables for two. There's a small play area for little ones. The furniture is modern, the interior is interesting, with its own unique style in every corner.

📖 The menu is extensive, and there's a wide selection of Russian cuisine.

🥘 Beef borscht 265 baht. Of course, it doesn't taste quite like the borscht we're used to in Russia, but it's still delicious.

🥓 Salo 100 baht. True, they call it frozen bacon, but that doesn't change the essence. A great appetizer with borscht and vodka with mustard sauce.

🥙 Olivier salad with red fish - 275 baht. The Olivier salad had a slightly unusual flavor, but we couldn't figure out why.

🍲 Tom Kha - 285 baht. I've been wanting to try this traditional Thai soup for a long time. Tom Kha is a coconut milk soup with chicken broth.

🦪 Mussels with mozzarella - 285 baht. The presentation is very beautiful. Since I don't think mussels have much of a distinct flavor on their own, they're always mixed with some other ingredients. I really liked all the ingredients in this dish.

❗️It's best to book a table in advance, as it gets very crowded in the evenings.

If you're craving home-cooked Russian food, you might want to check out Mirage.
