Recommendation reasons:
1 Guguan Great Wall is the only existing stone-built inner Great Wall in China that is relatively well preserved, and it is the earliest inner Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty in my country. The Guguan Great Wall was built in 369 BC, 155 years earlier than the Great Wall built by Qin Shihuang after he unified the six kingdoms. Although most of the existing relics are Ming Dynasty buildings, it has a history of more than 2,300 years since its initial construction and was rebuilt during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty (1542).
2 The original pass was at Guguan (today's Jiuguancun), but due to its poor defense, it was repeatedly breached. Jiajing ordered the pass to be moved ten miles west, expanded on the Great Wall of Zhongshan Kingdom, and built three yamen. The first yamen was headed by a lieutenant general, the second yamen was headed by a thousand-man commander, who was responsible for ammunition, etc., and the third yamen was responsible for garrison and customs collection. The total length from Jiayu Valley in the north to the entrance of Baihui Village in the south is 20 kilometers.
3 Qinling Ancient Post Road: built after Qin unified the six kingdoms, it mainly controlled the commercial, political and military road from Taihang to Shanxi and Hebei. It is verified that it was 100 years earlier than the ancient Roman road. The ancient road is paved with bluestone, and after thousands of years of vehicle pressure, deep ruts have been formed. It now exists in a section behind the city gate, less than 100 meters. Tips:
Due to years of war, thousands of meters of ancient Great Wall and sentry towers, battlements, medicine towers, gates, Xifeng Temple, etc. at the north and south ends of Guguan have been restored.
