Pingtung|Visit the largest Japanese military village complex, Shengli Star Village, and have a bowl of shaved ice to experience Japanese style

A ten-minute walk from Pingtung Railway Station will take you to Shengli Star Village. This is the largest Japanese-style officer dormitory complex in Taiwan, and it once housed the Eighth Regiment and the Third Flying Regiment of the Japanese Army during the Japanese occupation. After the war, it became a military dependents' village and a cradle for those who dreamed of becoming generals.
Now it has become a cultural and creative base, receiving tourists from all over the world.
The one that impressed me the most was Mikiken, a traditional Japanese wooden building with low tables and cushions, which gave it an atmosphere similar to that of the Miyake store in Okayama. The store houses a collection of antique ice shavers and nostalgic items, which will make you feel like you are in Japan.
Shenglixing Village is divided into Shengli District, Tonghai District and Chenggong District. General Sun Liren's residence is also here. If you have the chance, you may as well come and experience the charm of the rebirth of the military dependents' village after a century.
📍Address: No. 106, Qingdao Street, Pingtung City, Pingtung County, 900
