Classic Sunrise Spot

When it comes to watching the sunrise, Longpan Park is almost everyone's first choice.

With its high elevation and wide-open views directly facing the Pacific Ocean, the park offers an unobstructed natural stage free from urban light pollution, making it the perfect place to fully embrace the sunrise and experience the vastness of nature.

📍 On New Year's morning this year, I stood here alongside dozens of other early risers, quietly watching the sun slowly ascend. There was no noise, just the sound of the wind and occasional gasps of awe. The moment the first golden ray pierced the horizon was truly indescribable.

🌊 A natural theater of wilderness, simple yet profoundly beautiful
Longpan Park is located on the eastern coast of Kenting and features a raised limestone plateau. The terrain, shaped by weathering and erosion, has created a unique karst landscape with undulating formations. This natural viewing platform, paired with endless grasslands and coastline, offers breathtaking views from every angle.

Standing at Longpan, you'll find nothing around you but wind, the ocean, and the vast sky. It's this purity and openness that make it an ideal spot for travelers seeking to watch the sunrise and reflect on themselves.

☀️ Tips for capturing and experiencing the sunrise:
• Be sure to arrive early—about 30 minutes before sunrise is recommended to secure a good spot.
• Bring a small blanket, hand warmers, and a hot drink to stay warm while enjoying the view.
• A wide-angle lens and tripod are great for capturing silhouette shots of "a person standing amidst nature."
• For a quieter experience, visit on a non-holiday morning when there are fewer people.

📸 That day, I took many photos, but the one I cherish most is a simple shot of the sea and sky without any people. Looking at that image always reminds me of that morning when I woke up with the world.

🚶♀️ This place isn't just for sunrises; it's also perfect for unwinding and strolling
Longpan Park is equally worth visiting during the day. The grasslands take on a golden hue under the sunlight, and the distant horizon blends seamlessly with the sea, accompanied by the gentle sea breeze. It's a great spot for a casual walk or simply sitting and relaxing. Many couples come here for picnics and photos, while others enjoy solitary moments listening to music and gazing at the ocean for an entire afternoon.

⚠️ Reminder: The terrain can be rugged, and some areas are near cliffs. Please watch your step and wear non-slip shoes for easier navigation.

Every time I visit Kenting, I always set aside some time for Longpan Park. Whether it's to welcome the New Year's sunrise or to find a brief moment of peace during a trip, this vast coastal grassland always reminds me: in a place where the wind blows strong and the sky is so blue, everything still feels possible. ☺️
