The Mudan Reservoir is located in the upper reaches of the Sichong River in Shimen Village, Mudan Township, Pingtung County. The Mudan Reservoir Dam is 65 meters high and 445.6 meters long. It is an earth-rock dam with a daily water supply of 100,000 tons and an annual water supply of 37 million tons, with a storage capacity of approximately 30 million cubic meters. Completed in 1995, the Mudan Reservoir supplies water not only to the entire Hengchun Peninsula but also to the Pingnan region and as far as the industrial areas of Kaohsiung. Mudan Reservoir is the largest reservoir in Pingtung. From the bridge, you can see the majestic Mudan Reservoir spillway gates. A trail leads to the dam's summit viewing area, offering panoramic views of Shimen Village. Surrounded by mountains, the Mudan Reservoir offers captivating scenery. The blue sky, white clouds, and green mountains are reflected in the mirror-like waters, creating a tranquil and poetic atmosphere. Against the backdrop of the blue sky and the surrounding mountains, the Mudan Reservoir is breathtakingly beautiful and refreshing. After visiting Mudan Reservoir, there are other attractions nearby, such as Xuhai Prairie, Xuhai Hot Springs, Shimen Ancient Battlefield, and Mudan Bay.
