Devi’s Fall (also called Patale Chhango in Nepali) is one of Pokhara’s most intriguing natural wonders — a thundering waterfall that vanishes underground into a hidden cave system. What makes it truly unique isn’t just its power, but the mystery that surrounds it.
Legend has it that a tourist named “Devi” tragically drowned here while bathing in the water — hence the name. Today, the site is a popular yet peaceful spot to witness how nature carves its way beneath the earth. The water rushes from Phewa Lake, flows under the road, then disappears into a dark limestone tunnel.
📝 Why Visit Devi’s Fall?
A rare chance to see a sinkhole-style waterfall in action.
Right across the street from Gupteshwor Cave, which leads under the fall.
Easy to reach — only 10 minutes from Pokhara Lakeside by taxi or scooter.
A nice stop on your Pokhara cultural and nature tour.
🎯 Travel Tips:
Best viewed during or just after monsoon (July–September) for maximum flow.
Visit in the morning for fewer crowds.
Don’t miss the nearby statues, local souvenirs, and wishing wells within the park.
Combine your trip with the Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave for a full underground adventure.
Whether you're into geology, legends, or just the raw beauty of water crashing into darkness, Devi’s Fall is worth the visit while you're in Pokhara.
