Daxian Peak, located in Xushan Village, Pingshan Township, Datian County, covers a total area of 6,893 hectares, including an 1,848-hectare core area. The area primarily protects species of plants and animals under first and second-class national protection. Daxian Peak, with its main and secondary peaks, boasts high, steep, and picturesque scenery, earning it the nickname "Little Wuyi."
The main peak, at 1,553.4 meters, reaches the sky, making it the highest peak in Datian County. It is also the source of Junxi, Datian County's largest river. Daxian Peak boasts a distinct vertical distribution of vegetation and a rich variety of species. The weather is refreshing and pleasant in summer, while winter offers breathtaking views of the snowy landscape and sunrises.
On the mountainside, there once stood the Chongshengyan Temple, built during the Song Dynasty. The temple, covering over 2,000 square meters, boasted upper and lower Buddhist halls, 17 Buddhist halls, and over 70 monks' quarters, accommodating over a thousand people. The temple was destroyed by a mountain flood in 1959, leaving only the ruins. In early 2003, Datian Daxian Peak was designated a provincial nature reserve.
