Candi Prambanan is located northeast of Yogyakarta city, approximately 17 kilometers from the border between Central Java Province and Yogyakarta Province. It is the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia, featuring four main temples inside, which include both Hindu and Buddhist temples. Visitors are often recommended to use golf carts or rent motorcycles to explore the area, as it helps reduce energy consumption. For tickets, it is suggested to purchase a combined ticket for Borobudur and Prambanan, which is more cost-effective.
Built in 1390 AD, Candi Prambanan is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple complex was constructed based on Hindu beliefs and consists of eight main towers. The largest tower, located at the center, is the main temple housing the statue of Lord Shiva. Surrounding the main temple are other statues, with the left side dedicated to Lord Brahma and the right side to Lord Vishnu. The complex is surrounded by 156 smaller shrines, all made of stone and adorned with intricate carvings depicting Hindu beliefs and the Ramayana story.
Entrance fee for foreign visitors: 400,000 IDR.
