Songxi Ancient Village, a paradise on earth

Songxi Ancient Village is located in Pujiang County, Zhejiang Province. The ancestors of the villagers migrated here during the Song Dynasty. Today, 18 families live here. Songxi is surrounded by mountains, offering a secluded and tranquil atmosphere. The large-scale Qing Dynasty buildings still standing today showcase the village's former glory.
The bridge pavilion over the stream at the village entrance is unique, with two archways on the left and right, one round and one square, each with a profound meaning. The village's tradition is to "go out through the square door, come back through the round door." The square door symbolizes "going out to all directions, being upright," while the round door symbolizes "people who go out to work and come back to reunite with their families," and the villagers' harmonious and peaceful coexistence. At least 25 families have lived in Songxi throughout history, and it is very rare to have "20 families in the same village."
After entering the square and round doors, you will find the Guandi Temple, which was originally built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. The existing building dates back to the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. The Qing Dynasty murals on the wall are clearly visible, telling the story of history.
The village is named after the stream, and there are many streams, Mingxi and Anxi, crisscrossing the village. The clear water is a unique feature of Songxi.
The most impressive thing is that all the buildings are used by residents for normal living. There are signs saying "former residence" and "cultural relics protection" at the door, and the house is full of the smell of pots and pans. Moreover, every household is full of life, and even the low and narrow doorways are carefully maintained with potted plants, making the whole village clean and beautiful.
The village is almost entirely paved with small stones. After a tiring walk, find a coffee shop to rest. Sitting in the patio of the old house, looking around, and looking up at the sky, it's like the words "don't rush" hanging on the wall, making people feel a sense of tranquility and comfort, as if time has slowed down here.
