💧New Zealand Blue Spring photo-taking and check-in guide | Check-in points of the entrance mangroves + the dreamy blue spring in one article!

New Zealand Blue Spring (Te Waihou Walkway) is one of the most magical natural secrets in the North Island. The water is as clear as glass and the temperature is kept at 11 degrees Celsius all year round.

But those who really know how to take photos know that there is a "super giant red tree 🌲" at the entrance + there are many beautiful check-in angles in the middle!

🔥Top 4 must-take camera positions (including the entrance mangrove)

① 🔴The entrance mangrove (giant redwood feeling)

Just at the entrance of the Leslie Road parking lot trail, a tall orange tree stands in front of the door, which is very shocking!

It is recommended to stand in front of the tree and shoot a long shot + shoot a portrait at an upward angle, so that you will feel like you are in a redwood forest for a second

Best light: 9:30-11:00 am, backlit red leaves are very layered
📸Recommended composition: full body of the person + red trees in the middle, zoom out to get a sense of proportion of "people are very small vs. trees are super huge"

② 💧The first wooden bridge overlooking the spring water

Walk in for about 10 minutes and you will see the first wooden bridge, from which you can overlook the ice-blue spring water + floating water plants

It is easiest to shoot the effect of "clouds in the water, reflections like a painting" here

📸It is recommended to use a wide-angle lens + CPL polarizing filter to remove reflections and make the bottom of the water more transparent!

③ 🌿Long water grass floating area (favorite of Internet celebrities)

This section of spring water has long and soft water grass, swaying with the water flow, with pure mountains and forests in the background, which is very photogenic

You can take photos of "people on the bridge + water grass flowing" or "selfie of spring reflection"

④ 🪵Wooden plank road S-shaped bend

There is a section of the plank road that turns into an "S-shape" before the end, allowing people to stand in the middle to take super literary and artistic compositions

With the small trees and springs behind, the sense of layering is overwhelming

🗺️Blue Spring Transportation and Entrance Information

Entrance address: Leslie Road Carpark, Putaruru
It is recommended to start from this side (not the Whites Road end), the mangroves and springs are closer here
The whole journey is about 4.7 kilometers, and it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to go back and forth. The slope is gentle and easy to walk
